Back into the F&G episodes and this one wasn't actually aired by NBC - which isn't a good sign if it's the fourth episode of your series. We look at Episode 4 where Kim Kelly might be a friend, but with friends like that, who needs enemies? Before you throw away all of your Tonka trucks, make sure you listen to this episode! Chris and Chris look each week at a television program that never made it to the second season. Come join us every Tuesday! We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know! If you have a moment also, please rate and review us on your favorite podcast platform.

Continuing on with our Greatest Sitcom bracket (you can see full results here) - today, we're looking at the 1990's. Voting open until March 24 and then we'll start on our final bracket!
Mar 21, 2017
We've got a very scary episode of the podcast this week as we throw a few eggs, break a few rules and settle the age old question, what's the worst Halloween candy? We also determine if Chris has ever worn women's clothing before as well as we give a detailed definition of when we became men. We cover the Halloween episode of Freaks and Geeks but we won't leave you with your creepy dad in his Vampire costume. We continue with our bracket to determine the greatest sitcom of all time. (Prime time, 30 minute shows that ran from 1970-2009.) We turn our focus now to the era of the 1980's. You have two days to vote and the winners move onto the field of 32. You can vote through Twitter - your voting and results are below! Vote wisely!

Friends? Bob Newhart? ALF? Scrubs? What is the greatest 30 minute sitcom? In the spirit of March Madness, Season 1 Podcast in cooperation with RamblingMorons.com is hoping to find out. Every few days, we'll be releasing a bracket divided by decade. Tonight, we start with the 1970's a decade featuring the golden era of the laugh track sitcom (filmed in front of a live studio audience, naturally.) Follow us at @season1pod to vote for each of the eight matchups. We will also be posting a podcast handicapping each region as well as the results. (We'll also continue our look at Freaks and Geeks, don't worry.) So now's a great time to subscribe to our podcast, follow us on Twitter, and start voting!! //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js //platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

We're into our second episode of F&G and this one is all about the risky business of throwing a party while your parents are away. But wait... there's a twist - it's NA beer. Oh and there's a story about a babysitter's dead mom as well. It got weird this week, I'm not going to lie. This will be a Cylon-free episode as the voters have spoken and we will start reviewing the Judd Apatow series Freaks and Geeks! This will be a first watch for both of the Chris's and they give their impressions of the pilot episode. We also delve into slow dances, SCTV, dodgeball, and sixth grade girls. We continue our look at the 2007 sitcom Cavemen with episode's two and three. Our heroes lose a job and get a girlfriend this week and we discuss our own firings. During our questions segment, we talk about our favorite sitcoms, whether Pebbles was hot or a baby, and whether you're a caver or a smoothie. If you love the theme song to the television show Flipper, well, this is your LUCKY day. Check out this week's episode and don't forget to vote whether to keep reviewing Cavemen, or cancel it and pick a new show. Well, we've put this off long enough. You asked for it, we delivered. Chris and Chris review the two pilots of the critically acclaimed Cavemen. We discuss what makes a good sitcom, if Chris remembers Alice and All in the Family, and we also talk about squash and drink dialing. Oh, and there's a cameo from the Denny's in North Kansas City along with a cameo from world burner Alan Bunch. Set down your Dungeons and Dragons and try to figure out just how old Chris in on this week's episode. Chris and Chris look each week at a television program that never made it to the second season. We have our tuxes on. It's a very special episode. You voted. Damn you. You all voted. And today, we tell you what won your vote. And then we discuss how dumb voting is and how we still have to honor the will of the people. We also talk about AT&T's Lily and some fan fiction that Chris wrote. We talk about what Steve Carell did to the Internet this week. Finally, we discuss the direction of our show starting next week and how it seems so simple, even a caveman can do it. Also, if anybody knows Nick Kroll, we have questions. Join us this week and beyond as we leave Firefly behind and venture back in time with Cavemen. We've done it. We've reached that unreachable star. But if it's not your star is it really reachable? We ponder these philosophical questions and many more on this week's final review of Firefly. In addition, we talk about masturbation, Rogue One, shooting machine guns, and also managed to nominate four shows to review come next week. You can vote at @season1pod on Twitter if you're so inclined. Further, we talk about whether the ABC version of Scrubs should ever be referenced, and we live to fight another day. Farewell, Firefly. Keep it shiny. Chris and Chris look each week at a television program that never made it to the second season. Come join us every Tuesday!

Nope, it's not a Blondie song, this is Heart of GOLD and we talk this week about the penultimate episode. Frankly, we talk less about this episode, which was fine. But it wasn't our favorite and we spend time wandering talking about Stephen King movies, love triangles and all kinds of questions towards the end. And we finally get the back story of the Earth that was. Oh, and also vintage video games. There's only one more episode to go after this one, so we're still taking nominations for shows to do next. You can nominate a show at season1pod.com/vote. Chris and Chris look each week at a television program that never made it to the second season. Come join us every Tuesday! This week we get a weird package in the mail. Amazon? eBay? Nope, it's a dead guy. Grab your Ice Planets and if you can't walk, then crawl to this episode. And if you can't crawl, well.. you know the rest. We also talk about lousy first dates, great science fiction, and the iPod Shuffle. HUZZAH! We are back from the holiday break with the home stretch of Firefly! Chris and Chris look each week at a television program that never made it to the second season. Come join us every Tuesday! Fewer and fewer episodes of Firefly remain, yet we're still going to call this a good day. Firefly won't manage to double-cross us and steal our clothes (we hope.) We talk about Episode 11 "Trash" this week and there's plenty to talk about if you're into mild nudity and killing people with your brain. We also ask the gripping question, "what would be your best naked day?" Tune in every week for the conclusion of Firefly and the series to follow every week on the Season 1 Podcast! We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know! Torture, war, and Rainbow Brite. What do these things have in common? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Yet we manage to wrap them all into one episode of the Season 1 Podcast. We also sprinkle in a little chick-kissin' and some Lost references as well. We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know! If you have a moment also, please rate and review us on your favorite podcast platform.

Nine episodes in and we see the end in sight for Firefly. We spend this week talking about a good old fashioned Ocean's 11 story where you gotta grab the booty and not get caught by the Marshalls. We talk through the heist episode, touch base with friend of the podcast Zac Efron once more and we finish with everybody's favorite segment "Question" - Now with 100% more Dungeons and Dragons. We also ponder who is the hottest Disney Princess if the rest of the episode didn't creep you out yet. Make sure you nominate our next show by heading over to season1pod.com/vote!   This week's episode begins in memory for Ron Glass, who portrayed Shepherd Book from Firefly as well as many other great television roles. This episode is in dedication to you and your grieving family. We also get to watch the best episode of the series this week as we use the flashback to move all of our characters forward. Chris and Chris also bring back the popular "Questions" segment (now with points!) so check it out. Now is your chance to decide the direction of the show. Should we continue with Firefly, or move onto another show by heading over to season1pod.com/vote or voting on our Twitter feed @season1pod. We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. Keeping it shiny, we move onto Episode 7 of Firefly where Adam Baldwin can really stretch his comedic acting chops by grunting even more loudly! It's like his eyes follow me. We talk about one of the best episodes of Firefly this week - Jaynestown. We discuss statues, the Bible, musical episodes of our favorite TV shows and we even spend a little time trying to talk one of our Chris's into singing "The Man They Called Jayne." We also have cameo appearances by Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Scrubs! We also debut our new and creatively named segment called "Questions." This was a fun one to watch and a fun one to record. Hope you enjoy it! We're running out of episodes to review - so make sure you nominate a show for us to do next by heading over to season1pod.com/vote. We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know! Our sixth episode comes with one free goodnight kiss - or at least a smack to the back of the head. We talk this week about Firefly's sixth episode and it's all about a double-cross! If you like hot red heads then this one is right up your alley. Chris and Chris talk about how Saffron is able to cross up Mal, quote the Bible and try to seduce Inara all while trying to be traded for Vera (the gun.)

One of our favorites and we hope it's one of yours.

Now, it's time for you to vote on whether we keep reviewing Firefly or move onto another show! You can nominate a new show here and you can vote on what to do with Firefly on our Twitter feed.

We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play as well as many others. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know!

Nov 8, 2016

Welcome back to Season 1 Podcast. This week, we continue our look at Joss Whedon's Firefly with episode 5 "Safe." You've voted for more Firefly episodes, but we're quickly running out. Don't forget to nominate a new show for us to review HERE. On this week's episode we discuss how western this space western is, the full IMDB history of Zac Effron, how bad that ship must've smelled with all those cows on it, and just how pissed you can be that this show got cancelled. We also close with whether elements of this episode were the inspiration for the poo emoji. Also: Please someone nominate The Heights, please. We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know!

You voted and decided that you wanted more Firefly episodes! So we're going to be giving you at least two more. This week's episode was the first non-pilot episode and there was a noticeable tone shift as this one was darker and spookier. Chris and Chris talk about the Bushwhacked, the Alliance, the Reavers and we again threaten you with Cop Rock. Sit back and enjoy! Don't forget to leave us a review on iTunes or where ever fine podcasts are served. You can also give us a follow over on Twitter for good measure! Show Notes:

Thanks for joining us for Episode 2 of the podcast and Episode 2 of Firefly. One of the goals with this podcast is to better understand why a show is cancelled after one season and you can start to tell right off the bat with this second episode that there's trouble a-brewin. This was the FIRST episode that Fox aired and they reportedly gave Joss Whedon only three days to write it after they disapproved of Episode 1. The Chris's discuss this week about the thin plot, how Firefly does in the Bechdel test, and how much Jayne steals every scene. Follow this episode, you're going to get a chance to play studio executive and either cancel our reviews of Firefly, or continue it on for two more episodes. Follow @season1pod on Twitter for 48 hours after this episode to vote! Episode Notes:
  • 00:00:30 - The second pilot, that viewed first. How do you write a story in three days?
  • 00:02:30 - The writing is on the wall, Fox isn't fond of Firefly.
  • 00:04:00 - Unification Day! An aspicious day.
  • 00:08:00 - Best theme song of all time?
  • 00:10:40 - Firefly and the Bechdel test
  • 00:19:00 - Niska vs. Rocky and Bullwinkle
  • 00;21:00 - The Train Job - Doin' the crime.
  • 00:26:00 - The Jayne chain of command
  • 00:27:00 - Second reference of Disney Princesses in two episodes. (What is wrong with me?)
  • 00:33:00 - How this episode failed as a pilot, but succeeded as a second episode
That's our second show! Don’t forget to leave us a good review on iTunes if you have a moment and tell your friends! Now the podcast is in your hands. Vote on our twitter feed to either cancel Firefly or keep flyin'. We are on Stitcher, iTunes, Pocket Casts, and Google Play. If there’s a podcast app you want us on, let us know!
